Air India had hiked the insurance cover on the ill-fated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft from Rs 750 crore to Rs 850 crore following an engine replacement in April this year, Times of India reported citing people familiar with the matter. The total claims from the plane crash are expected to exceed Rs 1,500 crore, the report added.
On June 12, as news emerged that an Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India, a video ( archived) circulated online claiming to authentically show the final moments before the crash from inside the cabin.
Three days after the crash, only 35 bodies had been handed over to relatives from an overall official death toll of 270.
