President Trump ordered National Guard troops to the area after clashes over immigration-enforcement operations.

Protests in Los Angeles continued to escalate late Monday, after the first contingent of National Guard troops, deployed by President Donald Trump, arrived to the city on Sunday. Late Monday news broke that Trump planned to deploy additional National Guard members to quell violent protests.

A large crowd gathered Monday in a park across from Los Angeles City Hall to protest the arrest of a prominent labor leader. Their signs lambasted President Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement as David Huerta was due in court for a bail hearing. Union leaders from across California led the crowd in chants of “Free Huerta now!”
