Players from the Saudi-backed breakaway LIV Golf Series will be able to qualify for the Open Championship for the first time after a historic agreement was reached

The PGA Tour thanked President Donald Trump for intervening in its previously futile efforts to broker a business agreement with LIV Golf.

Tour officials said the session at the White House “brought us closer to a final deal” that would be subject to Justice Department antitrust scrutiny.
