Trump points to brutal deep freeze to deny global warming, scientists fire back
A brutal Arctic outbreak has plunged much of the United States into subzero wind chills, snarling travel and straining power grids just as President Donald Trump seizes on the deep freeze to question whether the planet is really warming.
Average global temperatures are now around 1.4C higher than during the pre-industrial era, according to data released Wednesday by the European Union’s Copernicus planetary observation service. The scientists also found that 2025 was the third-hottest year on record.
