Highway 99 in Tulare County was shut down in both directions Saturday morning following a 59-vehicle fog-related collision. The closure stretches from Avenue 24 south of Earlimart to three miles south to the Kern County line, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes, authorities said. The crash was reported at 8:16 a.m.
The incident was reported at around noon and the onramp was closed. It reopened at around 2:40 p.m., according to the CHP. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to CHP Merced Officer Eric Zuniga.
TULARE CO, Calif (KSEE/KGPE)- The California Highway Patrol is on scene of a major multi-vehicle collision involving 59 vehicles on State Route 99 near Avenue 24, blocking both northbound and southbound lanes.
The northbound lanes on 99 will be closed between Sunday, Jan. 25, and Friday, Jan. 30, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each time. The southbound side will shut down between Monday and Friday, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
