The Pentagon declared on Friday that the U.S. military's top priority is to defend the homeland and Western Hemisphere.

U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby praised South Korea as a "model ally" during meetings with senior officials in Seoul on Monday.
The NDS said that if China dominated the Indo-Pacific, it would be able “to effectively veto Americans’ access to the world’s economic centre of gravity”. The strategy document also urged allies to do more to boost collective defence in the region.
The Pentagon has released a National Defense Strategy, amid tensions between the Trump administration of traditional allies like Europe.
The winter iteration of Northern Strike reflects broader shifts in the U.S. national-defense strategy toward large-scale combat operations, contested domains and operations in extreme climates, officials said.
