An evacuation order has been issued for the community of Lytle Creek amid an intense storm hitting Southern California.

The highway leading into Wrightwood is washed out, due to flooding, with evacuation and safety warnings in place as crews work to get the situation in the area under control, according to San Bernardino County Fire.

Trabuco Creek, Bell Canyon and Hot Springs Canyon are slated to be hit with mandatory evacuation orders at 8 a.m. on Christmas Eve. as heavy rains are expected to hammer California.

An evacuation warning was issued in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County due to rising water levels, officials said.

“If you have received an evacuation notice, you need to stop what you're doing and evacuate out of the area. This is not a time to start calling people to try to figure out what's going on,” Vinnie Montez with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. “You need to heed the advice and do what you're being asked to do.”
