President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, after more than a week of fighting following Israel's strikes -- and subsequent U.S. attacks -- on Iran's nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the ceasefire with Iran unveiled by U.S. President Donald Trump and said he had agreed to it, but warned his country would "respond forcefully to any violation".

French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance for both Israel and Iran to uphold their recent ceasefire agreement, in a phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. “We share the same objective: that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons.
