The Grammy-winning British singer-songwriter, 73, has been forced to postpone several upcoming concerts after contracting a throat infection, Sting revealed on social media Wednesday. "Thanks so much for all of the well wishes," he wrote on Instagram.

The British singer was famously a member of The Police (alongside Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland) before departing the band during a concert in August 1983. His debut solo album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, was released in 1985 and he has dropped 14 solo records since.

Jan. 21, Sting announced on Instagram that he would be postponing multiple concerts and an awards show appearance due to illness.

The postponed shows may include the January 30 FireAid concert at the Intuit Dome Arena in Inglewood, California. That show –– which features big names like Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder –– is a benefit for charities working to provide relief from the devastating wildfires in and around Los Angeles.
