Before a new car comes to market, it's subjected to many months, sometimes years, of rigorous testing around the world. Sweden often hosts a big part of that journey, its cold northern expanses offering the perfect mix of frigid temperatures and frozen surfaces.

Mercedes is integrating its electric and combustion vehicles, gradually phasing out the "EQ" lineup. The new GLC with EQ Technology will replace the EQC, discontinued in 2023, and will be offered in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz EQC compact SUV has been part of the brand’s bestselling GLC model range since 2021. Except for America, that is. So, years after other markets could buy one, it seems as if America will finally get one as well.

The GLC has long reigned as the most popular SUV model from Mercedes-Benz and, in 2024, it was the brand’s best-selling series. Now, customers can anticipate an exciting addition: a new all-electric GLC will enhance the lineup.

Mercedes has released a handful of details about the fully electric GLC with EQ Technology. The crossover is slated to have advanced batteries and an 800-volt architecture. The model will also have a standard heat pump,

The GLC with EQ Technology is entirely different than the EQC it replaces. Mercedes plans to unify its combustion engine and electric cars by gradually eliminating the separate "EQ" lineup. The process started last year when the G580 with EQ Technology was launched and will continue with the next CLA later this month.
