Nawrocki won 50.89% of votes in a very tight race against liberal Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, who received 49.11%.

But the Eurosceptic Nawrocki is preoccupied with historical grievances between Poland and Germany, and opposes Kyiv’s Nato membership and EU efforts to build up its own defences independent of the US.
