Silver said that he anticipates there will be a more formal process after the board of governors meeting in July

Commissioner Adam Silver offered hope to cities looking to land an NBA franchise, saying Thursday that the league "should be exploring" expansion. Silver addressed the media in his annual state-of-the-league talk ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the host Oklahoma City Thunder.

Silver also said that he "see the benefit to reducing the number of games" in the regular season when discussing shortening schedules.

It was an emotional moment for Shaquille O'Neal and the entire crew of "Inside the NBA" when the show bid farewell on Saturday as the Eastern Conference finals came to an end. The East finals were TNT's last NBA broadcast after failing to renew their TV rights contract with the league beyond the 2024-25 season.
