The man who police believe killed two Idaho firefighters responding to a brush fire after starting the flames himself had wanted to pursue a career in the fire service, his grandfather told CNN.

Idaho shooter Wess Roley aspired to become a firefighter himself, his grandfather Dale Roley revealed. Wess Roley owned a shotgun and a long rifle.

Officials said Wess Roley, 20, started a fire and then killed two responding firefighters. He was found dead on Canfield Mountain after a shootout.
